I’ve passed this old cemetery a number of times. Today was different though, I stopped after a quick hike to the Fire Tower in Pawtuckaway State Park.
The cemetery is in Reservation Road in Deerfield, NH. This is the back side of Pawtuckaway State Park. There are a lot of popular hiking trails on this side of the park.
I stopped after a quick hike up to Mt. Pawtuckaway to check out the new fire tower and enjoy this nice warm weather.
The graveyard is on the south side of the road. The entrance is marked by a vertical granite post and a large oak tree. Inside there are around 50 different gravestones in various conditions.
Most of the graves seemed to be people passing away in the early to mid 1800’s. In fact, most of the ones I saw where 1840’s and 1850’s.
Something creepy and magical about being in old cemeteries during the fall in New England.
