My buddy Jack and I planned on meeting up for a quick walk in the woods. I had some things to do in the morning, so we did not get on the trail till around noon time.

We were originally planning on hiking up North Pack Monadnock on the Ted and Carolyn trail. We had our micro spikes but left our snowshoes in the Jeep.
The weather was clear and a little windy. Temps were in the high 20’s and the trail was firm at the bottom. We started up, the trail was well broken out. It was a little uneven due to some warm-ups but not to bad.

When we got to the first trail junction we took the Carolyn trail. This trail was more packed down than the Ted trail. We followed this up to the Cross-Over trail. This trail was not broken out at all. The snow was deep and the hiking was slow going.
When we finally made it to the Bonner Falls located on the Ted trail we were relieved to see that this trail was broken out a little better. The falls were mostly frozen over and covered with snow so there was not much to see. There were lots of snow covered stonewalls along the trail as well.

Time and daylight was quickly slipping away so we decided to scrap our idea of summiting Noth Pack and bushwacked back over to the Carolyn trail. This again was very slow going, especially for such a short distance. But the snow was deep and crusty.

We made it over and started to make our way down. On our trip down we passed a Wapak Trail Sign in the middle of the trail which was kind of odd.
When we go toward the bottom there was a short trail that could only be accessed when it was dry. It went through some wetlands. It was fun to walk through since everything was frozen.

When we got back to the Jeep we were both surprised it took us so long to go such a small distance in such a long time. There was a lot of talking and laughing. We had a good time and that’s what matters in the end.
