It has been over 30 years since I’ve skied Stowe, Vermont. I had an opportunity to go up and ski with some friends, so I took it.

I had skied Loon Mountain on Sunday and was driving from Lincoln, New Hampshire to meet my friends up at our motel in Stowe. The drive over was windy and snowy, so it took a little longer. When I got into Stowe the skies started to clear.

Meet up with my Friends, had some dinner and drinks and went back to the room. It was snowing again, and we were hoping for it to continue to snow.

The next morning brought 7” of fresh powdery snow. Stowe has a bus service from most of the hotels along Mountain Road. So, we just had to walk out our door and stand at the bus stop across the street.

We took our time getting ready but were on the mountain by 9:30/10am. While we didn’t have first tracks but we had plenty of fresh tracks. It has been a long tie since I’ve had a power day.

We had a great first run down a green trail with lots of fresh snow. After a few runs we skied down to the gondola. We thought it would be fun to go to the top, take a break and have a drink. We ended up having lunch as well.

From the top we took a few blue squares down until we could make it to some green trails below. The snow as a bit sticky now as the temps got warm. We skied the rest of the afternoon on the lower part of the mountain.

I’ll have to come back another day and explore more of the mountain.
