We took a long Labor Day weekend camping trip to Vermont. This year we choose Woodford State Park. Pickings were slim because we decided to do this last minute. But as luck would have it we ended up with a great site.

Site 12 was a corner site. It was not far from the bathrooms and like most sites we’ve stayed at in Vermont, it was pretty level for setting up a tent. The fire pit was more of three-sided chimney with a grate for cooking on.

Funny story. When we got there, we realized we forgot a tarp for the ground, so we unloaded and ventured out to get a tarp. On the way back it was starting to rain. But we were driving faster than the storm. So when we got back to the campsite, I thought we had time to puck up a couple bundles of wood. I was wrong. It started pouring as soon as I put the first bundle in the car. When we got to the camp it was pouring, and our stuff was all wet. We should have got the EX Up first! Oh, well, what can you do but laugh.

So we set up our EZ Up and waited for the rain to stop before setting up our tent. It did not take long to set up. That evening we just enjoyed our site and the fire.
Over the weekend we ventured out to enjoy some of the walking and hiking trails as well as the campground. We also explore the Woodford trail. It was a nice nature walk. Other than that quick storm at the start of our trip the weather was pretty good the whole weekend.

We walked the campsite over a few times. There are a few sites that are really nice but have to book in advance. We really liked sites 9,11, 21, 22, 23. They had a good water view and not to close to anyone. The campers beach by site 73 is dog friendly so Liberty really enjoyed that.

Over the weekend we also set out by car to explore some of what southwestern Vermont had to offer. This included a drive-up Mt. Equinox, visiting Robert Frosts’ grave, The Burlington Battle Monument and Norman Rockwell’s summer retreat.
