Wrights Covered Bridge
The Wrights Covered Bridge is located in Newport, New Hampshire. This bridge was originally built in 1906 and is similar in style to the Pier Bridge located a short distance down the trail.
The bridges spans about 122 feet across the Sugar River. The bridge has a single span double lattice truss structure that are reinforced by laminated arches. The exterior is covered in vertical boards on both sides.

The bridge is named after S. K. Wright who sold this section of the railroad in 1871. The line was operated by the Boston & Maine and later sold to the Claremont & Concord Railway in 1954. The C&C ran this railroad until 1977 when it was abandoned.
To get to this bridge there is a small pull off on the side of the road with a gate. From here you have to walk down the trail about 1200 feet to get to the bridge.
I felt dwarfed walking through this tall structure. The bridge is long and dark because there the exterior is covered up.
Once we got to the other side of the bridge we decided to walk down toward the river and get some views of the bridge from the side.
