It was freezing when I got up but I was glad to meet some friends for a hike at 9am.

We all met at the northern terminus of the Wapack trail in Peterborough. There was a total of 4 adults, one baby and one dog ready for a fun day in the woods.

At the trail head I noticed a sign that said to clean you boots to help stop the spread of invasive species of plants. And at the bottom of the sign was a boot brush that you could indeed clean your boots with. So of course I had to give it a try.

Take from the cliffs on North Pack Monadnock

The Wapack starts with a gentle grade as it weaves through the woods. Soon we arrived to our first bit of elevation and climbed some rocky ledges. We continued on through a few more pitches and rocky areas. Soon we were getting some small views between the trees.

Before we knew it we were at the summit of North Pack Monadnock. It took us a little over an hour at a casual pace. At the top the sun was warm so while we were there we decided to have a snack and drink some coffee.

After a brief break we followed the Cliff trail to the cliff on North Pack. From here we had great views of Pack Monadnock and Monadnock as well as the rest of the Wapack rail that leads south to Massachusetts.

We enjoyed the view and took a few pictures then started our way back. As we headed down we had to be a little more careful not to slip on the wet roots and rocks that make up the trail. This is a great hike in any season.
