We were camping nearby and were told that Robert Frost was buried in the old Bennington Cemetery. So we had to visit the great New England poet.

The Bennington Cemetery is the oldest cemetery in Vermont. It is next to the “Old First Church”. We went inside the church before going to the cemetery since it was open. We walked up stairs. Looking in the pews, it was neat to see some graffiti carvings in the old wood that were a couple hundred years old.

After that we walked around the graveyard. There are a lot of interesting people and stories attached to this cemetery. One that stood out to me was the Revolutionary War grave. It contained the graves for solders that died in the war as well as one person that was executed for treason.

From here we walked and found the Frost grave. I is a large flat stone, simple in design and had the names of his family members buried in this family plot. We took some photos and read some of the information that surround the gravesite before leaving.
The whole graveyard is very interesting and a lot of interesting headstone carvings. It was nice to have some time to wander around for a bit.
