There is a free outdoor winter art walk in Boston. So, Steph a took a day off and went to check it out. It also seemed like a pretty good way to start my 52nd trip around the Sun.

We parked near State Street Garage. It is a bit expensive, but it was worth it to be centrally located for this walk.

We started out near Faneuil Hall and grabbed a quick bite to eat. Walked around a bit. I’ve never seen this place so empty. I guess a cold Thursday morning is the time to explore Boston.

We walked by the old meeting house and again, almost no people around it. We made our way down to Milk St. for the first set of googly eyes on the Gathering Artisan Collection Building.

Next we went down Washington Street to the “Kraken Building”. This building had giant inflatable tentacles sticking out of it top floor windows. This was one of the cooler ones to see and I was happy it was a somewhat nice day.

From there we went the Artificial Humans sculptures. These light up at night. They looked cool in the day, I bet they look even cooler at night when they are lit up.

Not far from there on Summer St. near Downtown Crossing, was the “Walruses on the Rings of Satern” mural. This was an interesting. The artist was inspired by the wood patterns. He thought they looked like the rings of Satern.

Next to the mural was the “e/Motion” see-saws. These were giant see-saws. They had a blue liquid inside a tube that created a blue wave. I guess they light up at night so another thing to do in the evening sometimes.

From the see-saws we walked a short way to the “Word on the Street Pod 2”, which were some regular looking street signs with some positive messages.

Then on to the “Word on the Street Pod 1”, which was just a couple of blocks down the road.

We navigated ourselves over to Ave de Lafayette to see the “Big Other”. This was a fun one because it wasn’t very busy and we got to take pics from across the street.

The next stop was “Word on the Street, Relax UR OK”. Which was a lighted up state route sign.

While we were in the neighborhood, we hit up the “Big Other 2”, This sleepy set of eyes are looking over Brattle Book Shop. An outdoor bookstore in the theatre district.

Since we had to keep an eye on time we popped out to the common and found “Big Other 3”. We did not get close. We had to take pictures from across the street.

We started to walk through the common. The Embrace sculpture was right there so we had to go visit that. I like sculptures that you can go inside of and from one angle it looks like the silhouette of a heart.

We wanted to visit a few more things in the common, but we were running out of time. We crossed the common and headed back to the car.

On the way back we found the Big Other 4, these eyes are side glancing at something. There is a large entry way below the eyes that looks like a mouth. The building looks surprised.

As we were leaving we got to see “Big Other 6”. We got a quick shot of it out the window. We didn’t realize it was across the street from Faneuil Hall where we started.
