The first time I had learned of Gap Mountains was from a lookout sign on Crotched Mountain on a previous hike.

Gap mountain is small set of mountains at the base of Mt. Monadnock. . Parked at the North Gap parking area. Plenty of room for more than 10 cars.

Headed up the Metacommet-Monadnock Trail to North Gap then over to South Gap mountain and back. The trail was beautiful up to North Gap. Heading over to South Gap was a little more challenging. I was glad I had a GPS with me to help find the trail. I don’t think there was a single marking on the trail. But there was a noticeable herd path up to the top. At the top there is a giant tree covered cairn as a marker.
